Never Too Early for Christmas

The countdown to Christmas is getting shorter, and the twinkling decorations get everybody in the Christmas spirit. The decision of when to begin decorating is a controversial topic, but I am a firm believer that it is never too early to decorate for Christmas. Embracing the festive season early can bring joy, bring people together, and enhance the holiday experience.
Decorating early simply allows the Christmas magic of the holiday season to extend. The holidays are a time that is filled with warmth and happiness and decorating early only means you get to enjoy the Christmas spirit for longer. Christmas lights, ornaments and festive decor create such a cozy and exciting environment that brightens up the sometimes cold and gloomy winter days. An extended celebration can improve moods and provide a sense of comfort during these times.
Early decorating can also reduce stress. It’s not a secret that the holiday season can occasionally be chaotic with shopping for gifts, cooking meals and planning gatherings. By putting up your decorations early, you can spread out the tasks of holiday prep, which can make the experience a lot less overwhelming while also experiencing the benefits of a longer Christmas season.
“I decorate early for Christmas every year. When my house looks like a Christmas wonderland it starts my day off right and makes me happy,” says Johns Creek sophomore Scarlett Ahching.

Putting up the Christmas themed things a little bit ahead of the normal time brings warm feelings to everyone, and it is important especially around the holiday season that emotions stay upbeat and happy. It can help people remember the true themes of holiday season, which is gratitude and kindness, and decorating for Christmas a little early encourages these themes for longer. By bringing in holiday cheer earlier, we can feel the joy and create a positive mindset to carry through the rest of the year.
